Incite director Jonathon Hanks will be moderating discussions today at the Global Child Forum conference on Building Partnerships for the Protection of Children. Convened by the Global Child Forum, CRES, the NBI, the Global Compact Network South Africa and Nedbank, the one-day business conference will focus on how business and cross-sector partnerships can support and protect children.
The event follows up on discussions and action started at the Global Child Forum on Southern Africa, held in Pretoria in September 2015 under the patronage of H.E. Mrs Graça Machel. At this meeting, key speakers will share perspectives and concrete examples of how the corporate sector is addressing children’s rights, outline where some of the risks and opportunities are in terms of sectors and countries, and present new tools. The meeting will also follow up on the progress of CRES (The Corporate Responsibility to Eliminate the Sale of Children), launched in collaboration with Nedbank at the Global Child Forum in 2015. Experts will share their insights on what the corporate sector can do to combat sexual exploitation of children. In the afternoon, two parallel workshops will focus on concrete corporate action, tools and best practice to prevent and combat commercial sexual exploitation.
